As part of their studies into extinction, Year 7 students took part in a fantastic day looking at ‘Life Long Ago’. Alongside the guidance of paleontologist, Ivan Wilkinson, students uncovered the secrets of the past by digging for the fossils of some of the most iconic carnivores and herbivores known. The students learned about the different time periods in which each dinosaur lived, where they came from and even what they ate! They investigated the remains of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Stegosaurus and Triceratops, and discovered which events could explain the complete extinction of the dinosaurs around 65 million years ago.

The day ended with the entire year group coming together to see a presentation of Sophie, the seven year old life-size T-Rex. The animatronic puppet delighted students as she walked round the sports hall, and even stayed around for a few photos at the end!
