27 students from Hall Cross Academy were selected by their Performing Arts Teachers to participate in a recruitment workshop The National Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) scheme on Thursday February 9th.

The dancers participated in a contemporary technique class followed by a creative class led by a professional dancer from the CAT scheme.  Tutors are searching for 30 talented students from across the whole of Yorkshire to join the scheme and wish to support, nurture and inspire high quality dance in schools at the same time.

The scheme provides high quality part-time dance training for exceptionally talented youngsters who wish to pursue a career in dance.  It is a part of the national intensive dance programme funded by the DfE for 13-17 year olds who display extraordinary potential and passion for dance and is run in partnership between the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) and Northern Ballet Theatre.

All of our students worked incredibly hard at the workshop and developed some really lovely movement material working brilliantly with students from across other year groups in the school.

An incredible 14 of our students were identified by the dance artist, Rose Chadwick, as having enthusiasm, commitment and potential enough for training as a contemporary dancer and were invited to the CAT Scheme Open Day at NSCD in Leeds to learn more about the scheme.  If you would like any further information about the scheme please visit www.nscd.ac.uk/cat-info.  Well done to all of our dancers!  Special congratulations to those students listed below who were invited to the CAT Scheme Open Day:
