On Monday 30th January, a group of very talented athletes across Y7-10 competed in the Doncaster School’s Athletics Championships at EIS in Sheffield. There were some amazing performances showcased throughout the day, against very tough competition, with incredible wins from Maddie Langham in the U13 400m, George Fisher, Freddie Haslam, Mack Warne and Harrison Creaser in the U13 boys 4x100m relay, Freddie Haslam in the U13 triple jump, George Fisher in the U13 800m, Mackenzie Nason in the U13 shot putt, Darja Andrejeva in the U15 long jump, Will Maybury in the U15 long jump and Daniel Johnson in the U15 speed bounce. Second places were taken by Amy Bailey, Monica Ogbe, Maddie Langham and Elisha Raja in the U13 relay, Amy Bailey in the U13 long jump, Ellie Wright in the U13 shot putt, Harrison Creaser in the U13 60m, Freddie Haslam in the U13 200m, Mack Warne in the U13 speed bounce and Laila Mohammed in the U15 shot putt. Third place medals were won by Monica Ogbe in the U13 60m and Lauren Lowry in the U15 60m.
All of the performances from all students across the day accumulated points for the age categories and the school. Overall, U13 girls were awarded 2nd place, U15 girls and U15 boys earned 2rd place and U13 boys were crowned Doncaster Champions, 20 points clear of 2nd place!
With the huge accumulation of points across all events, Hall Cross were crowned Doncaster indoor athletics champions at the end of the day with a huge 344 points!
