French A Level

About the Course

At Hall Cross Academy we offer both French and Spanish at A level. During the course you will study a variety of exciting new topics such as studying a film or novel in the target language as well as modern world issues such as family values, cyberspace, voluntary work, society, criminals, French culture and heritage, francophone music, the cinema, politics and immigration. You will learn many transferable, cross-curricular skills which will be of great use to you in later life. You will have the chance to go on a trip abroad and will have a lesson with the Foreign Language Assistant each week.

Course Content

Paper 1: Listening, Reading and Writing. Paper 2: Writing. Critical essay on a film and a literary text. Paper 3: Speaking. Discussion of stimulus card, plus research project 16-18 minutes. 30% of total A level.

Beyond the Classroom

The possibility to take part in a trip to France (Paris) and Spain (Seville) alternately. Revision sessions available with access to many websites to aid independent learning. One compulsory hour with the native speaking Foreign Language Assistant each week, either individually or in a small group. There is also the opportunity to attend Modern Language study days at universities to enhance your studies.
