The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund provides financial support to help students overcome the specific financial barriers to participation they face so they can remain in education. The amount of financial assistance you will receive is dependent on personal circumstances and the quantity of applicants.
Payments are made weekly in arrears during term time only. This is subject to a claim form and receipts being submitted.
Items the bursary can contribute towards: | |
Transport | Bus tickets up to £2 per day (subject to review) |
Meals | Contribution value to be confirmed September 2025 |
Equipment – These items are purchased by Hall Cross Academy and then loaned to students. These items will not be reimbursed | Scientific/graphical calculators, Chromebooks, sewing machines (to name a few). |
All items that have an asset value remain the property of Hall Cross Academy. | |
Compulsory Trips | Geography residential, course related theatre trips. |
UCAS and University visits (Combined total of 3) | UCAS, open days and university interviews. |
Trips that are NOT covered by bursary | Berlin, CERN, ski trips, Alton towers and prom to name a few. |
Uniform costs | Items listed on the uniform policy ONLY. Sixth form hoodies may be reimbursed as they are a uniform item. Leaver’s hoodies cannot be claimed by bursary. |
Stationery | Essential items for the student to complete their academic studies. |
Receipts for basic items can be reimbursed from GCSE results day | |
E.g uniform and basic stationery. |
