Parental Update Letter – 16th June 2021

Dear Parent,

Following the government’s announcement on Monday and further guidance from the Department for Education (DfE), we have unfortunately been forced to cancel a number of planned events this term.

The Proms for years 9, 11 and 13 have all had to be cancelled. Whilst the year 9 prom was due to take place in school, the guidance from the DfE makes it very clear that any form of dancing/disco should not go ahead and as a result, all three events have been cancelled.

I realise that this news will be really disappointing for our students and I hope you realise that we would have done anything to make the events take place.

Full refunds will, of course, be issued via either ParentPay or cheque. Please contact the finance team if you have any queries.

Sports Award Evening

In line with the above, we have also had to make the difficult decision to cancel the annual Sports Award Evening which was due to take place in early July. Again, refunds will be issued.

The Local Authority has advised that any transition activity should now be held virtually; Mr Goodchild will be in touch shortly for those parents with children in year 6.

The transition of year 9 students to the Upper School will still take place during the last two weeks of this term.

Sports Day

The sports day will still take place on Monday 28 June for year 7 students and those who are competing in years 8 and 9.

Once again, I apologise for the frustration and upset that this news will bring to some of you; I can only hope that this is the last of the disruptions to school life.

Kind regards,

Simon Swain
