On Friday 20th September a group of our ICA-Perform students took to an unusual type of stage in Doncaster Marketplace.
Roundabout is the brainchild of Paines Plough Theatre Company who designed and commissioned the pop up theatre. The flat pack, plug and play design has allowed the arts to reach people all over Europe in places that are not necessarily lucky enough to have local arts venues.
Last week roundabout was in the marketplace and ICA-Perform were invited to perform a two hour set of our choosing. We took our jazz band, Delanté Détras Theatre Company and some of our GCSE dancers to provide a mix of performing arts for the people of Doncaster.
Delanté Détras were lucky enough to perform a brand new play written by recent alumni Ciah White, this year’s Northern Young Writer of the year winner.
Feedback from audience members and staff was excellent as always, singing the praises of our exceptionally talented and hard working students.
As we had a little time spare at the end of our performance the staff at roundabout treated us to a spectacular light show to show us just what the theatre was capable of.
Well done to all involved, a great way to start the year.
