Friday 6th October saw the second ICA-Perform Next Steps Conference, a day designed to give our Performing Arts students an opportunity to speak to FE/HE providers.

The day began with students rotating between a careers fair in the library and short talks from universities in the main hall.

The careers fair gave students a chance to speak to HE/FE institutions about the courses they offer and to pick up course literature, they also undertook a research task to find out about some of the providers who had not been able to attend.

Talks in the hall were given by Backstage Academy and The University of Lincoln giving students a more in depth look at what the two institutions offered.

After lunch students attended workshops for two hours in their chosen discipline. Drama workshops were provided by Sheffield Hallam University and The University of York, Music by Leeds College of Music, Dance by The University of Lincoln and Production by Backstage Academy.

Lots of positive and excited noises were heard around the department and we look forward to reading all the feedback and planning next year’s event.
