Boy Blue Entertainment is an award-winning hip-hop dance company founded in London by choreographer Kenrick ‘H2O’ Sandy. The company’s piece, Emancipation of Expressionism, is studied as part of the new GCSE Dance specification.

On Wednesday 5th July, 25 young dancers from years 7 – 10 had the chance to improve their hip-hop dance technique and knowledge with Boy Blue dancer: Gemma Hoddy. By the end of the workshop, the students were able to replicate some of the repertoire from Emancipation of Expressionism and had a better understanding of Kenrick H20 Sandy’s choreographic process.

Working with Gemma will have aided those currently studying GCSE Dance and those who plan to take the course in the future. The dancers thoroughly enjoyed attempting and performing a new style of dance, learning movement from such an inspiring piece of choreography, and having the chance to discuss working in the dance field with an industry professional.
