On Monday eleven Y7 students travelled to Sir John Nelthorpe school in Brigg to compete in the first cross country event of the season. After completing the lake run during their PE lessons, the top girls and boys were chosen to represent the school.

The Y7 girls’ event started first and they had to complete 2 large laps of the cross country course. The girls finished in 7th position but there were some excellent performances within the team. Mia Rock finished in 9th place out of 40 competitors. Great runs were also produced by Lucie Thompson, Aleaha Thompson, Chelsea-Jane Gleadall, Kenzie Salmon, Ella Polwin and Connie Boyd.
In the Y7 boys event, the team finished in an excellent 4th place and just missed out on progressing to the next round. George Ackroyd produced an excellent run and made up two places in the final 5-metres to finish in 5th place. Jimmy Kirk and Krystian Rejdych finished one behind each other in 10th and 11th position. Oliver Lindley also had an excellent run on the 1 small and 2 large lap course.
These students were competing in the junior boys and junior girls competition where Y8 students also competed. With the performances from this competition, we are all looking forward to the school cross country in November.
