U14 Boys Hockey showed great resilience and determination at the recent Yorkshire Tournament. A loss in the first game and some tough fixtures meant the team only just qualified as one of the best losers from their group. However from then on in the knockout rounds they made sure they battled hard to win. A convincing 3-0 win vs Ashville was followed up by beating QEGS, who they had lost to in the groups. Despite going a goal down, they fought back with 2 quick goals and secured a place in the final against St Peters. It could have been all over in the first 5 minutes when Ewan West’s shots were well saved by their keeper and the post saving a bullet like shot from Ewan Whittaker. St Peters then scored on the break against the run of play but the team quickly scored. While pushing hard for the winner, St Peters then scored from another break away to win. Despite the squad being disappointed, they still qualify for the NE round as Runners up.
