About the Course
This is a nationally recognised Level 2 Qualification (GCSE equivalent) with a vocational focus on the Health and Fitness industry. This qualification is designed for learners with an interest in health and fitness. It provides students with the knowledge and skills to progress onto further study and employment in the Health and Fitness Industry.
Exam Board
NCFE
Units 1, 2 and 4 are internally assessed through the production of a portfolio of work that evidences knowledge and understanding of topics. This is worth 75% of the qualification.
Unit 3 is assessed through an external examination worth 25% of the overall marks.
Students can achieve a Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction
Course Content
The 2 year qualification is based around 4 units:
Unit 1: Principles of health and fitness
Unit 2: Healthy lifestyles
Unit 3: Preparing and planning for health and fitness
Unit 4: Develop a personal Health and Fitness programme
Your Future
Future pathways include progression onto the BTEC Level 3 qualification in sport and exercise science or apprenticeships in the health and fitness industry.
