Health and Social Care BTEC Double Award

About the Course

This qualification has been designed for learners who are interested in Further Education or employment in a related sector. It supports access to a range of higher education courses and is the equivalent of one A level.

Exam Board

Exam Board - EDEXCEL Year 12 - One exam (90 minutes) and one piece of coursework. Year 13 - One exam (90 minutes) and one piece of coursework.

Course Content

In preparation for the written examination, students will explore the roles and responsibilities of various professionals working within health and social care sectors.  For the coursework component students will be encouraged to develop an understanding of psychological perspectives and approaches to care and the value of psychological studies to the understanding of health and social care will also be examined.

Beyond the Classroom

In addition to the  more formally assessed units, students are also encouraged to undertake a work experience programme within their first year of study.  Learners are advised to complete up to 100 hours within a relevant health or social care sector.

Your Future

The BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care qualifies for UCAS points. It provides students with a wide choice of progress options into further study, training, or relevant employment. Students who successfully complete the qualification will be well equipped to move onto areas such as health care, nursing and midwifery and nursery nursing.
